4 fires near E.C. Manning Park now being held

There is still one massive wildfire burning in the Manning Park region. The wildfire simply known as Border 2 spread from the U.S. into Canada in mid-July, sending smoke into a remote area southeast of Hope and near E.C. Manning Provincial Park.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire was likely caused by lightning that began on the U.S. side and spread across the border into Canada. Smoke from the fire was visible from E.C. Manning Provincial Park southeast of Hope, as well as the Ross Lake Ecological Reserve. It was 30 hectares as of July 23.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 1, it is an estimated 6,277 hectares.
