Last Wednesday, August 26, Missen was sentenced to 11.5 years, with approximately 10 years and 10 months remaining to be served.

“This sentence reflects the serious consequences associated with trafficking dangerous drugs and illegally possessing firearms,” said Cpl. Stephan Mendela of the Chilliwack RCMP. “This investigation removed significant quantities of harmful drugs from our communities and demonstrates the impact of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies.”

A forfeiture order will also be pursued through the courts involving property seized during the investigation that remains in the possession of the Chilliwack RCMP.

The Chilliwack RCMP acknowledged the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, the Abbotsford Police Department, Langley RCMP, and the IERT for their collaboration throughout this investigation.

“Their collective efforts were instrumental in bringing this matter before the courts and achieving this outcome,” Cpl. Kiener said.

Over a year ago, Abbotsford Police Patrol officers observed a man known to be involved in local drug trafficking operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from driving in April 2025. Officers followed the vehicle and subsequently arrested the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Tyler Missen. During the arrest, officers located illicit drugs and a handgun in his possession.

As a result of this arrest, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit launched Project Interruption, targeting Missen and his involvement in drug trafficking within Abbotsford. Over the course of these two investigations, officers executed several search warrants, including one at a residence in the 31100 block of Deertrail Dr. These enforcement actions resulted in the seizure of more than 12 kg of illicit drugs, including carfentanil, cocaine, and crystal meth. Investigators also seized more than $60k in Canadian currency, body armour, a firearm, and several loaded magazines.

“The quantity of drugs seized, particularly carfentanil—a highly potent synthetic opioid—had the potential to cause significant harm within the community,” Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker previously said. “The seizure of these drugs, firearms, and proceeds of crime represents a substantial disruption to local drug trafficking activities and reinforces AbbyPD’s commitment to targeting individuals who profit from the sale of dangerous illicit substances. Illegal drugs and firearms continue to pose significant risks to public safety, contributing to addiction, violence, and community harm. AbbyPD remains committed to disrupting drug trafficking networks, removing illegal firearms and enhancing public safety through proactive enforcement and intelligence-led investigations.”
