3-term Kent councillor to run for mayor
AGASSIZ – A three-term District of Kent councillor will run for mayor in the fall municipal election now that its current mayor is stepping aside after more than 25 years of public service.
Susan Spaeti, who was first elected in 2014, thanked Kent Mayor Sylvia Pranger in a social media post this past Friday for over a quarter century of service to local constituents.
“I’d first like to sincerely thank Sylvia for her many years of dedicated service to the District of Kent, both as a Councillor and as Mayor,” Spaeti said. “More than 25 years of commitment to our community is an incredible record of public service, and I’m truly grateful for the leadership, dedication and countless contributions she has made over the years. Her commitment to our community has made a lasting difference, and I wish her all the very best in the next chapter.”
While acknowledging Pranger’s impressive record of service, Spaeti said she’s proud to announce her candidacy.
