Chilliwack man turns himself in to Vancouver police after hateful, ugly rant caught on video

VANCOUVER — A 34-year-old Chilliwack man has turned himself in to Vancouver police after he was recorded making hateful, homophobic remarks and insulting comments in a viral SkyTrain video.

In a news release Saturday (Feb. 4), Vancouver police launched an investigation this past Tuesday (Jan. 31) after a 27-year-old man posted a TikTok video online that was recorded outside the Burrard SkyTrain station in Vancouver. In the video, the 34-year-old Chilliwack man is heard making anti-gay comments and other incendiary remarks.

The Chilliwack man turned himself in to Vancouver Police Department Hate Crimes investigators on Thursday morning (Feb. 2) and was arrested for his role in the alleged crime, and for an unrelated firearms offence.

The unidentified Chilliwack man has since been released pending his next court appearance on March 29.
