Public invited to celebrate Chilliwack philanthropist’s birthday at local park this weekend
CHILLIWACK – Members of the public are invited to join the City of Chilliwack this weekend for a celebration of a generous philanthropist at a local park bearing his namesake.
The city welcomes residents to mark philanthropist Bill Kelly’s birthday this Saturday, August 22 from noon to 2 p.m. with hot dogs and refreshments at Bill Kelly Park, 9145 Corbould Street, located behind the Chilliwack Cultural Centre and the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre.
Over the years, Kelly has contributed well over $250,000 towards various play structures around the Landing Leisure Centre, including the accessible playground, and the “Junior Diggers” playground.
The accessible playground was created with universal design principles to offer unique play value and experiences for children of all ages and abilities.
