Visitors can expect live music, food, local artisans and more, along with a new gold panning event along the Fraser River with Elder and Knowledge Keeper Dean Adams, as well as guided cultural and historical talks led by Lytton First Nation Councillor John Haugen.

“Lytton has faced extraordinary challenges, but it remains a welcoming, determined and culturally vibrant community,” Lightfoot said. “The River Festival is about remembering where we have come from, celebrating who we are and looking forward together.”

Lytton’s Chinese heritage, rooted in early miners, merchants and families, will also be on full display through stories from community partners, including the newly rebuilt Lytton Chinese History Museum.

“The rebuilding of the museum is a powerful example of Lytton’s resilience,” Lightfoot said. “It preserves an important part of our shared history and ensures the experiences and contributions of Lytton’s early Chinese community continue to be remembered.”

Wildfire activity, smoke, air quality, road conditions and official messaging will be monitored ahead of the event.

The Lytton River Festival will be located at the meeting of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. All admission is free.
