AbbyPD issues 245 violation tickets in construction areas in July

ABBOTSFORD — AbbyPD is reminding drivers to stay safe around construction zones as another round of overnight traffic changes to Highway 1 start this coming week.

“Construction zone speed limits and traffic control measures are put in place for a reason,” said the Abbotsford Police Department. “Reducing your speed, paying attention to signage, and following traffic laws help protect workers and motorists alike while reducing the likelihood of serious collisions and further traffic disruptions.”

Targeted traffic enforcement in construction areas resulted in 245 tickets, including 93 speeding tickets, 71 moving and non-moving violations, and 16 tickets for using an electronic device while driving.

Officers also seized twelve vehicles for excessive speed.
