HARRISON LAKE – RCMP members from the Agassiz RCMP detachment were called to a remote area near Harrison Lake last week after a woman allegedly pointed a gun at a group of people during a dispute over a campsite.

Agassiz RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says RCMP members responded by police boat to a remote area near Harrison Lake after getting a report that a woman had pointed a firearm at a group of people.

According to information gathered by police during the investigation, the parties were allegedly involved in a dispute regarding the campsite.

Corporal Kiener says the woman allegedly retrieved a firearm and pointed it at the group.

No one was injured during the incident.

Corporal Kiener says the woman was arrested without further incident, and a firearm was seized as part of the investigation.

She is expected to appear in court at a later date.

In another incident involving a campground dispute during the week of Monday, June 29 to Sunday, July 5, Agassiz RCMP received a report about a disturbance at a campground in Harrison Hot Springs. A man was reportedly intoxicated and threatened campground staff and other campers.

Officers attended and located the man, who demonstrated signs of intoxication and was unable to make what police called “safe decisions.”

Corporal Kiener says the man was arrested and held in police custody until he was sober. No one was injured during the incident, and the complainant did not wish to pursue charges.
