ABBOTSFORD – A spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed that a body was discovered in an Abbotsford park on Tuesday.

An Abbotsford resident contacted Fraser Valley Today after seeing multiple police cars at a park just north of Highway 1 Tuesday (June 23).

Fraser Valley Today reached out to Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, who confirmed that a person was located deceased at the park on Livingstone Avenue, located roughly halfway between the Clearbrook Road exit (exit 87) and Mt. Lehman Road exit just off Hwy. 1.

Sgt. Walker said the death is not considered suspicious, and the cause of the person’s death is not immediately known.

He said the death could be related to an overdose but that hasn’t been confirmed.

“The coroner is attending. This file isn’t that old yet,” Sgt. Walker said in a text to Fraser Valley Today at 8:51 p.m. Tuesday night. “The officers are right in the middle of it. Not much info right now.”

At least one coroner’s vehicle attended the scene along with upwards of five AbbyPD patrol vehicles.

The park on Livingstone Avenue where the body was located is not considered a problematic park, Sgt. Walker said (i.e., multiple homeless encampments, etc.).
