North Fraser Fire Department gets more than $50K grant for new extraction tools
FRASER VALLEY — First responders serving communities from Harrison Mills to north of the Fraser River may be able to secure a new tool in their arsenal thanks to a sizable donation from Firehouse Subs.
The North Fraser Volunteer Fire Department in FVRD Electoral Areas C, F and G has received $54,347 from the restaurant’s Public Safety Foundation for the purchase of a spreader, cutter and accessories.
“Our department, because it covers a large area, has three fire halls but only one cutter and spreader set,” said Chief Gerard Baars, North Fraser Fire Department. “This donation will allow us to have a second set available at one of our other Halls allowing response acceleration for entrapment incidents.”
The equipment would help firefighters rescue victims faster by extracting them safely from complex multi-vehicle accidents and life-threatening injuries.
