15-hectare wildfire deemed out of control breaks out SE of the Coquihalla Summit, west of Princeton
GRASSHOPPER MOUNTAIN (BRITISH COLUMBIA) – A 15-hectare wildfire has ignited in the remote backcountry southeast of the Coquihalla Summit, north of the boundaries of E.C. Manning Provincial Park, and generally northwest of Tulameen, B.C.
According to the BC Wildfire Service’s online dashboard, the fire was discovered earlier today (Tuesday, June 16). The location is Grasshopper Mountain. The fire is considered out of control and could expand beyond its current perimeter.

Although it’s not known exactly how many BCWS fire personnel are battling the fire, the Tulameen & District Fire Department says wildfire crews are patrolling, and air tankers are actioning the fire, according to Fire Chief Jody Woodford.
