CHILLIWACK – The City of Chilliwack plans to repair multiple roads across the city as part of its annual asphalt rehabilitation program if a motion passes later today.

According to item 7.1 on today’s council agenda, the city plans to spend $2,726,865.75 toward repairing multiple roads throughout Chilliwack.

Those roads include Annis Road between Chilliwack Central Road and Yale Road; McSween Road from Bell Road to Ballam Road; Yale Road from Broadway to Menzies Street; and Giesbrecht Road from Yarrow Central Road to the end of the road.

Two additional roads could be repair on a provisional basis, including Blackburn Road from Sinclair Road to South Sumas Road, and Ryder Lake Road from Ross Road to Extrom Road.

The city says four submissions were received in response to the 2026 Asphalt Rehabilitation Program’s construction tender. The work includes the supply of all labour, materials and equipment to rehabilitate nine asphalt roads. Amrize Canada Inc. submitted the lowest bid from four companies. The city said Amrize Canada Inc. had met the requirements to qualify for contract award and had considerable experience in the local construction and paving industry, and includes former Lafarge Canada and Langley Concrete in their company portfolio.

A staff report from Doug Mossey, manager of transportation and drainage for the City of Chilliwack, says the city’s engineering department prioritizes rehabilitation of roads based on an independent condition survey which is updated every five years. A comprehensive survey was last conducted by Stantec in August 2023.
