Mission Hospital E.R. to temporarily shut down overnight again
MISSION — Some patients may have to go elsewhere for immediate care as the Mission Memorial Hospital emergency department is set to shut down again overnight – less than a week after the last closure.
Fraser Health says the service interruption is set to last from Sunday, May 31, at 5 p.m. to Monday, June 1, at 8 a.m. to allow doctors to see patients already in the E.R. before shifts end at 11 p.m.
The health agency encourages people to explore non-emergency care options such as visiting the Mission Urgent and Primary Care Centre from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., calling Fraser Health Virtual care from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., or trying 8-1-1 outside those hours.
As with all previous closures, emergency-trained nurses will be helping walk-in patients with basic care or by redirecting them to other resources.
