FRASER VALLEY — The Fraser Valley Regional District is looking to match national alerts with an update to its air quality warning systems.
The region’s systems have been updated to the two-tiered system used by Environment and Climate Change Canada and will be used to notify residents of poor air quality.
This replaces the use of air quality advisories and Smoky Skies bulletins.
Yellow warnings will be issued for poor air quality and high health risks, while orange warnings are for “very poor” conditions and “very high” health risk, such as heavy smoke from wildfires.
