UFVRD police ramping up presence around Cultus Lake for summer
CHILLIWACK — Police in the Upper Fraser Valley are now warming up for tourist season in popular hotspots ahead of the May long weekend, especially in Cultus Lake.
The UFVRD RCMP will be providing safety messages and increased enforcement throughout the summer to prevent impaired driving, disturbances from excessive celebrations and local bylaw violations.
“The Victoria Day long weekend traditionally marks the beginning of the busy summer season,” said Cst. Hannah Sutton with the detachment. “Police encourage everyone to enjoy the region’s picturesque landscapes safely, responsibly, and respectfully.”
Tow trucks and bylaw officers will be deployed in popular areas, and parking violations may result in fines or towing.
