ABBOTSFORD – Less than a week after a fire was intentionally started outside Bakerview Centre for Learning, Abbotsford PD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker has confirmed two more arsons at local schools.

Sgt. Walker tells Fraser Valley Today that a fire was set to a portable classroom at Bakerview Centre for Learning on Wednesday morning, April 15, at approximately 3:14 a.m. Damage in this incident was minor, he says, and the fire was later confirmed as an arson. It’s the second incident in less than a week at that school campus.

Now, police are investigating an arson that happened Friday morning, Apr. 17, at approximately 12:28 a.m., at a different school campus. Sgt. Walker says a fire was discovered set to a portable classroom at Godson Elementary School. Similarly, the damage was minor but police have now confirmed it is also an arson.

AbbyPD’s Major Crime Unit is overseeing the investigation into all three incidents.

“These investigations are in the early stages, and additional resources have been deployed. Investigators are examining all available evidence to determine if the incidents are related,” Sgt. Walker said. “There have been no arrests to date.”

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the affected areas, or who may have dash-camera footage from the vicinity of the incidents between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on April 13, 15 and 17, to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225. The Abbotsford Police file number is 2026-15480.
