ABBOTSFORD — A young Fraser Valley local has been recognized for his work in the region’s water and agriculture sectors.

BC Business Magazine’s 30 Under 30 this year features 28-year-old Poshak Sachdeva, an executive director at Irrigation Industry Association of British Columbia (IIABC).

“As irrigation systems become more sophisticated and expectations around water efficiency rise, the need for clear standards and qualified professionals becomes critical,” said IIABC President Nigel Pedersen. “Recognition at this level signals that technical leadership in our sector is being acknowledged provincially.”

Sachdeva’s work involves expanding industry training, connecting with municipalities and producers, and sharing technical insights on public policies related to water sustainability and drought preparedness.

The University of the Fraser Valley graduate was the only recipient from the Fraser Valley in the 2026 cohort.

“As a mentor, there are moments that quietly affirm the work you pour into others. Watching Poshak’s journey unfold is one of those moments,” said Bharathi Sandhu, Sachdeva’s mentor and specialist at Nava Wealth of Raymond James Ltd.

“I am honoured to have played even a small role in his journey and look forward to witnessing the continued impact he will undoubtedly make.”

The recognition came in tandem with the nationwide Agriculture Literacy Month in March.

The IIABC is a hub for irrigation professionals to share their knowledge and raise awareness about the industry, and was founded in 1979.
