One man arrested in Surrey, B.C., over 3D printed firearms lab
SURREY — A man has been arrested by police in Surrey, B.C., in an investigation into illegal manufacturing of 3D printed firearms.
Police say the investigation began in March when officers learned of someone making the weapons, as well as uploading the schematics for the guns online.
Canada updated its Criminal Code in 2023, outlawing the distribution of data involving 3D printed firearms, in a law that police say is “unique” to the country.
Police say they identified the suspect in the case and arrested the man last week, and he remains in custody while charges are pending.
