CHILLIWACK – Hundreds turned out for a ribbon cutting and grand opening of Chilliwack’s newest bookstore in late March, made possible by a multitude of Fraser Valley supporters, several contractors, and donors.

Bookstore coordinator Tera Procee tells Fraser Valley Today that Reformed Book Services held a grand opening of its bookstore at 45802 Luckakuck Way on Saturday, March 28, located near Hofstede’s Country Barn.

Reformed Book Services is a Canadian charity that supports Reformed Christian reading, study and education.

Pastor John Koopman, chair of the local organizing committee, welcomed the large crowd who had gathered for the occasion with prayer and scripture reading.

General Manager Jennifer deBlieck says the mission of Reformed Book Services is to provide solid Christian resources to Canadians from coast to coast, with the aim of being both affordable and reliable.

“It has been humbling to watch this come together, to see the enthusiasm in your community for this store,” deBlieck said.

Anna Nienhuis, Chilliwack store manager, said, “We hope this store will be a blessing to the community and that all will come in often to visit us.”

Chilliwack MLAs Heather Maahs and Á’a:líya Warbus were present for the grand opening ceremony.

During the grand opening, Pastor Koopman acknowledged some of the key people who were instrumental in seeing the project to fruition. They include:

  • The staff and Board of Directors of Reformed Book Services
  • Tera Procee – store coordinator
  • Brian Maljaars– general contractor
  • Alex Wildervanck– design and woodworking

Board chair Edward Laman added, “When we reflect on the opening of the Chilliwack store, we are amazed at how it all came together in such a wonderful way. The vision of a small group in the Fraser Valley, along with the hard work and financial commitment of many others, has made a dream into a reality. On behalf of the board, thank you so much to all that were and are involved. Ultimately, we praise our God for prospering the plans.”

In November 2025, Procee told Fraser Valley Today that over $170,000 had been raised toward the new bookstore’s construction, reflecting a groundswell of support for the project.

The Chilliwack bookstore held its first story time event Wednesday morning, April 8 at 10 a.m., and plans to hold this type of event on a weekly basis moving forward.
