Chilliwack Firefighters limit damage from Monday barn fire
CHILLIWACK — There were no injuries from a barn fire that broke out around 1:25 p.m. Monday in the 6800 block of Branford Avenue in Chilliwack.
In a news release, the Chilliwack Fire Department says crews arrived to find light smoke coming from a barn. Flames were found in the ceiling space of the building and successfully attacked.
Firefighters from halls 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 were able to quickly identify and access the source of the fire and prevent it from spreading. Although the barn sustained some damage, firefighters were able to limit the blaze to minor structural damage.
Fire officials say the incident is a good reminder that fire safety is critical in agricultural and backyard settings. Regular inspections for hazards, proper use and placement of heat sources, and ensuring electrical systems are in good condition are important safety considerations.
