Rainy week makes for a quiet week for RCMP
CHILLIWACK — Last week’s rainy weather is credited with making for a quiet week of work for the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP.
BC Conservation Officers called police to investigate a driver involved in a single-vehicle crash on Keith Wilson Road. A breath sample revealed the driver was almost 3 times over the legal limit. An officer spotted a vehicle leaving a downtown nightclub when it collided with a planter. The driver failed a roadside breath test. In both cases, police impounded the vehicles involved. Over the week, police dealt with 9 impaired driving situations.
Police looked into an odd situation of a man trying to sell gold in the parking lot of Eagle Landing. He told one would-be customer that he was selling the gold to raise enough money for a plane ticket home. The potential victim said the gold appeared to be fake and called the police. The suspect made off before police arrived.
Mounties say the event is a good reminder not to purchase valuables from strangers in informal settings such as parking lots.
