ABBOTSFORD — A nearly $90 thousand donation from the Adventurer Foundation will fund three pieces of medical equipment being placed in hospitals in the Fraser Valley.

The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) says the funding will provide an ultrasound for the cardiac unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, a MolecuLight wound-imaging device for Mission Memorial Hospital and a ring-removal device for the emergency department at the Mission hospital.

The ultrasound is a diagnostic tool that uses sound waves to produce real-time images of the heart. The MolecuLight device is a touchscreen unit to measure wounds and detect bacteria, allowing staff to use more targeted treatments. The ring-removal device, sometimes called a “ring rescue,” is a tool that can slice through a ring while preventing heat from burning the patient’s finger.

The Adventurer Foundation is supported by Fraserway RV and has been supporting the FVHCF for years. “With staff and customers throughout the Fraser Valley, this community is truly home for us,” said James Epp, Owner and President of Fraserway RV. “That’s why we’re pleased to expand our partnership with the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.”
