Possible armed suspect remains at large after extensive police search in Abbotsford Friday night

ABBOTSFORD — A man is still at large despite triggering a heavy police presence at an Abbotsford park Friday night (Mar. 20).

At around 10:42 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department received a report of a suspicious man believed to be carrying a handgun in the area of Berry Park, in the 33800 block of Fern Street.

Officers then found a person matching the description, who immediately ran away.

Air 1 and police dog services assisted with the extensive search and containment of the area, but the man was not found.

“At this time, officers are unable to confirm whether the item seen by the reporting citizen was a real firearm or an imitation,” AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Valley Today. “AbbyPD received only one call regarding this incident.”
