BURNABY — Police in Burnaby are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who assaulted a woman last month.

Frontline officers responded to the report at Lobley Park on February 6, just after 7:45 p.m.

The victim, who was in her 30s, was walking through the park when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man, who then put one hand over her mouth while he used the other to touch her groin and buttocks.

The woman fought back, and the man ran off through the park towards Marlborough Avenue.

RCMP are now releasing photos and video of the suspect and are working to identify him.

The man is described as being between 5’8” and 5’11”, in his 30s or 40s, with a medium build. Photos show him wearing a jacket, pants, Adidas shoes, a cross-body bag and glasses, all in black.

“We are asking the public to take a close look at these photos and video,” said Corporal Laura Hirst, media relations officer. “If you know this person or recognize him, we are asking you to call our investigators.”

Anyone with information on this individual is urged to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and quote file number 2026-4468.
