MISSION – Mounties in Mission are investigating after a man who smelled of liquor and appeared to be intoxicated lurched toward a vehicle over the weekend, causing self-inflicted injuries when he struck his head on the car’s windshield.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr, police were called to the intersection of Logan Avenue and Park Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at approximately 3:30 p.m. for a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Mission RCMP contacted the driver of the vehicle, the pedestrian and an independent witness.

Corporal Mohr says it appears that the vehicle had been travelling very slowly and was preparing to turn onto Park Street when the pedestrian, who had been standing on the sidewalk, suddenly jumped toward the moving vehicle, striking his head on the windshield.
