3 skiers injured after avalanche on Thar Peak Saturday afternoon
HOPE — Search and rescue teams from Hope and Chilliwack prevented another tragic headline with the successful retrieval of three skiers from an avalanche this weekend.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue teams were paged out to the incident on Thar Peak, in the Coquihalla Summit, and found two subjects with serious injuries on the 400-metre path they landed in after the avalanche.
The third subject was also injured but was able to call for help.
Chilliwack Search and Rescue assisted with the call, while Valley Helicopters helped SAR members in accessing the trio, who were all taken to ambulances on standby.
