Watchdog clears police of any wrongdoing from officer-involved shooting in Agassiz
AGASSIZ – B.C.’s independent watchdog has cleared police of any wrongdoing after concluding its investigation into an officer-involved shooting in Agassiz in June 2025.
According to a statement from the Independent Investigations Office of B.C., RCMP officers were called to a home on Highway 9 between McDonald Road and Bristol Drive in Agassiz on June 19, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m. Police attended the home in response to a call about a person damaging a home.
Officers arrived to find an affected person and a woman with a handgun, who reportedly pointed a gun at police before going into the home.
The woman allegedly pointed the gun again and shot outside. Officers returned fire, which hit her, and then went back inside the home.
