City of Chilliwack holding free Shred-a-Thon and food drive Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Coliseum
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack residents responded in droves at the last document shredding event and the chance to support the Salvation Army Food Bank in Chilliwack.
Together, Chilliwack residents donated 1,550 pounds of food and $4,706.70 in cash to the Salvation Army Food Bank at the last Shred-A-Thon event. Waste management company Emterra matched the community’s cash donations for an event total of $9,413.40.
The free Shred-a-Thon event returns next week Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chilliwack Coliseum parking lot (45323 Hodgins Avenue) just off Ashwell Road.
The free event enables Chilliwack residents to bring residential shredding materials only with a maximum 10 boxes per household (banker box size). Attendees are asked to kindly remove all plastic binding covers/combs, metal hanging folders or other metal objects, excluding staples and paper clips, before dropping off materials or they may be asked to remove them on site.
