Dozens displaced following morning fire in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — A fire in a living complex in Abbotsford has left the people living in the 30 units without a home tonight. According to the City of Abbotsford, the fire broke out around 8 a.m. on the third floor of the apartment building at 1909 Salton Street.

Three individuals were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Although the fire was contained to the third floor of the building, all units in the apartment were evacuated. Everyone living in the complex will not be able to return to their homes tonight.

A reception centre has been established at New Life Christian Reformed Church on Delair Road. Impacted residents are asked to register for support services by checking in at the reception centre.
