MISSION — Mission RCMP’s latest Community Connection is highlighting another busy week, covering everything from traffic reports to more aggressive interactions.

Mounties were paged to Wren Street, just north of Lougheed Highway, on January 25 at 6:15 p.m.

Officers spoke with the driver, who was trying to turn left into the driveway of a shopping plaza when his Nissan Altima ended up hanging over a retaining wall.

Police say the driver showed signs of impairment by liquor and failed a roadside screening test. He has since received a 90-day driving ban and a 30-day vehicle impound.

Five days prior, an officer who had recently attended a serious pedestrian collision was driving along 1st Avenue when a man ran out in front of the moving police car and displayed his middle finger before walking away.

The officer stopped the man to explain the situation and learned that he was due to be served a six-month driving ban. Paperwork was served, and the man then started hurling racial slurs towards officers before walking away.

The RCMP is also on the lookout for the suspects of an alleged robbery that week.

On January 22, at around 10:30 a.m., a man was walking along a path between 7th Avenue and Martin Place when he saw two individuals trying to steal walkway lights from a fence.

When he confronted the men, one suspect pulled out a knife, while the other pulled out a needle and demanded his wallet. He complied, and the two suspects ran off.

One offender was described as in his 20s, with short brown or blonde hair and a pockmarked face. He was also seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

The other suspect was described as in his 20s, with short black hair, a pockmarked face, and also wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the last incident is asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file number 26-894.

Mission RCMP responded to 293 calls for service during the week of January 19 to January 25.
