Man with knife apprehended amid heavy police presence in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD – Police in Abbotsford say they were able to resolve a situation in which a man experiencing psychosis was observed carrying a large knife attached to a pole Tuesday afternoon.
According to a statement from the AbbyPD, a significant police presence was observed in the area of Blueridge Drive and Townline Road in Abbotsford at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 27).
Police say officers responded after an alert citizen reported seeing a man walking in the neighbourhood carrying a large knife attached to a pole. Officers swiftly located the individual and safely apprehended him under the Mental Health Act, as he was experiencing a state of psychosis.
No injuries were reported to the man or any peace officers.
