CHILLIWACK – A spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment has confirmed that police were called to a home in Sardis last week after getting reports of a daytime break and enter.

The incident happened Thursday, January 23 on Kathleen Drive, not far from the Sardis Library.

“I can confirm the Chilliwack RCMP responded to the report of a Break and Enter on Kathleen Drive yesterday (Thursday, Jan. 23) at 12:23 p.m.” Corporal Kiener said.

Some personal items were taken, Cpl. Kiener confirmed.

“There was damage sustained to the residence and some personal items were taken, which I won’t be providing the details on,” Cpl. Kiener said. “We are working with the Integrated Forensic Identification Services to further the investigation.”

Police did not provide any other details.

A nearby resident told Fraser Valley Today that an RCMP officer canvassed the neighbourhood asking Kathleen Drive residents if they had any camera footage or may have noticed anything.

The break and enter reportedly happened between 10 a.m. and noon on Thursday morning.

“The officer said they believe the break in happened between 10-12 and possibly by someone on foot because only small items that were easily pocketed were taken,” the nearby resident told Fraser Valley Today. “Honestly, though, this is scary and I feel unsafe. It’s certainly left me feeling uneasy.”
