Crews respond to car fire on Highway 7 near Agassiz Saturday afternoon

AGASSIZ — Traffic had come to a near standstill after a car had set ablaze on Highway 7 in Agassiz this afternoon. 

Drivers reported the incident after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24, on the Lougheed’s westbound lane near Mount Woodside. 

Video from the scene showed a white SUV pulled over to the curb, with large flames coming from its hood.

RCMP and the Agassiz Fire Department arrived on scene at about 3 p.m.

Eastbound traffic faced significant delays, while the westbound lane came to a standstill.
