MISSION — Police in Mission continue to investigate an incident of mischief involving a man and a wooden stick last week.

Mission RCMP says on January 12, at approximately 9 p.m., a resident in Triple Creek Estates on Wilson Street saw a man smashing her car windows with “some sort of stick”.

Officers arrived and found a man in a long green rain jacket walking with a wooden stick that had an antler nailed to it.

The man was arrested for mischief, and officers then spotted several damaged cars that appeared to have been struck with a stick, along with a broken light fixture.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone who saw the male or had damage to their property that night is asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file number 26-514.

Mounties responded to another disruptive property complaint a couple days after, at a large backyard fire on Dewdney Trunk Road in the Steelhead area.

There was reportedly only one person on the property – a drunk 37-year-old man who was known to police from prior interactions. The man had previously been banned from getting burning permits and was aggressive toward officers.

“The fire department was called to extinguish the fire, which was much larger than permitted,” said Mission RCMP. “The man then started interfering with firefighters’ efforts to extinguish the fire, and was arrested as a result of his actions.”

Police also responded to a number of road incidents that week. A total of 302 calls for service were reported in the week of January 12, according to the detachment’s community round-up.
