Police seek witnesses to Highway 1 motorcycle collision Saturday

ABBOTSFORD — Police continue to investigate a serious crash that sent one motorcyclist to hospital in critical condition Saturday afternoon (Jan. 17).

BC Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a Suzuki motorcycle and a Mitsubishi RVR on Highway 1 near Atkinson Road in Abbotsford just after 2 p.m.

Initial findings indicate the SUV was travelling westbound when the motorcycle, travelling in the same direction, collided with it.

“The impact of the collision was a such that debris were strewn across the highway, resulting in serious injuries to the motorcyclist”, said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. “The driver of the Mitsubishi was not physically injured”.

The highway reopened at around 9 p.m. that day.
