1 in critical condition after motorbike accident on Highway 1 near Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — Traffic was at a near standstill on a section of Highway 1 near Abbotsford due to a motorbike accident.

First responders were paged out to a motor vehicle incident on Highway 1 near Whatcom Road at 2:04 p.m. Three ambulances with primary care and advanced care paramedics responded to the scene.

DriveBC says a vehicle incident east of Cole Road has closed the highway’s westbound lane between South Parallel Road and No. 3 Road for a 5.5-kilometre stretch at 2:49 p.m.

Nearby motorists write that traffic on Highway 1 between No. 3 and Whatcom Road has stalled due to a serious motorbike accident near the Highline Mushrooms farm in Abbotsford. The motorcycle involved appeared to be a black sports bike.

BCEHS told Fraser Valley Today that paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and took one patient to hospital in critical condition.
