CHILLIWACK — Several parts of western B.C. are now under a flood watch due to an atmospheric river impacting the region this week.

The BC River Forecast Centre upgraded its high streamflow advisory in the Lower Fraser, including areas around the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver, to the current advisory at 11 a.m. Sunday, January 11.

Roughly 70 to 100 millimetres of rain are forecast to fall in the Fraser Valley from Abbotsford to Hope between today and Monday.

Residents are advised to stay away from riverbanks and to avoid driving through flooded roads or washouts.
