Chilliwack Cultural Centre to host Lizzie Borden story musical October 18

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack is staying on track for the Halloween season as a slashing dark comedy takes centre stage at home in just two weeks.

On October 18, the Chilliwack Cultural Centre will be hosting “Bury the Hatchet” – a true crime musical about Lizzie Borden’s alleged murder of her parents, Andrew and Abby Borden, in 1892.

“Although she was tried and ultimately acquitted, the legend that she wielded the axe that killed her parents has endured for more than a century,” wrote the Centre. “Almost overnight, Lizzie became America’s original ‘mad, bad and dangerous to know’ icon.”

The events leading up to one of America’s most infamous murder cases are set against a backdrop of humour, bluegrass music and murder ballads.
