ABBOTSFORD — A February 2025 collision between AbbyPD and a civilian vehicle has been referred to the BC Prosecution Service to see if there are enough grounds to charge an officer for driving offences.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on February 20, 2025, an Abbotsford Police Department vehicle collided with a GMC Envoy near the intersection of King and Gladwin roads.

The driver and sole occupant of the civilian car was airlifted to hospital for treatment, and both officers in the police vehicle were also taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) then took conduct of the investigation shortly after, which Chief Civilian Director Jessica Berglund has since completed.
