LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley have confirmed shots were fired on 232 Street early Thursday morning and suspect the incident is related to ongoing extortion incidents in B.C.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, police responded to a report of shots fired in the 6900 block of 232 Street in Langley. RCMP members arrived in the area and found evidence consistent with shots being discharged.

Police believe the suspects arrived in a dark-coloured sedan and fled the area immediately after the incident.

“Based on initial information we believe this incident is extortion related, investigators are liaising with partner agencies and working to determine possible linkages to other investigations,” Sgt. Sharoom said. “Thankfully, there were no reported injuries as a result of this shooting.”
