Mission Memorial Hospital reinstates full ER coverage after a rough 2025 that saw 6 ER closures
MISSION — The Fraser Health Authority says full ER coverage has returned to Mission Memorial Hospital, following a year that saw repeated closures of its emergency department.
In a statement released Wednesday morning, Fraser Health says there is now 24/7 emergency department coverage at the hospital.
“We recognize how important consistent access to emergency care is for the Mission community and we continue to work with the physician group to actively address physician staffing gaps as they arise to maintain service continuity,” Fraser Health said. “We remain committed to open communication with the community as we continue to support patients and their families. We appreciate the community’s patience and support and thank our staff, medical staff and B.C. Emergency Health Services for their commitment to providing quality care.”
Over the holidays, Fraser Health reduced ER hours from 24/7 to just 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a little over a week starting Monday, Jan. 29 through to today (Jan. 7). The health authority said the reduction in hours would enable the public to receive safe, consistent and responsible care.
