COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — Environment Canada has issued a snowfall advisory for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt today.

The national weather agency says a long period of snowfall with total amounts of about 30 cm is expected on Highway 5 between Hope and Merritt.

A frontal system moving into interior British Columbia will bring heavy snow to the Coquihalla Summit today. The system will pass late today but snow will continue through Wednesday due to an unstable southwest flow.

Environment Canada says weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Naturally, motorists should adjust to winter driving conditions and use winter tires and chains.
