Chilliwack Remembrance Day events include downtown procession

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack residents will join millions of other Canadians in paying their respects to Canadian veterans in Remembrance Day ceremonies across the country today. The day recognizes all Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP who served to defend the values and the freedoms that come with becoming a Canadian.

In Chilliwack, a series of ceremonies are planned. There will be a service starting at 10 a.m. today (Nov.11) at the Evergreen Hall at 9291 Corbould Street. Following the service, a procession will take place from the Evergreen Hall to the Cenotaph in front of the Chilliwack Museum.

Another procession will be taking place in Sardis at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #295 at 5661 Vedder Road. It starts at 10:30 am and concludes at All Sappers Memorial Park at 5571 Vedder Road.

The City of Chilliwack will be closing roads to vehicle traffic to allow for the safe gathering of residents.
