First baby of Fraser Health region for 2026 born in Maple Ridge

MAPLE RIDGE — Fraser Valley’s first baby – and second overall in British Columbia – has been born just shy of 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

A post shared by Fraser Health says baby boy Beckett came in at eight pounds and three ounces at Ridge Meadows Hospital at 12:53 a.m.

“Congratulations to proud parents, Breanna and Pedro,” said the health agency.

Beckett is the second baby born on January 1, 2026, in B.C.

The first was a six-pound, eight-ounce birth in Kelowna at 12:18 a.m., but Interior Health says it will not provide further details because the parents did not consent to sharing.
