Familiar name back on top as B.C.’s most popular name for newborns in 2025

VICTORIA — The B.C. government says parents across the province have spoken loud and clear about the most preferred name for their newborns.

According to a statement from the B.C. Ministry of Citizens’ Services, Noah was the most beloved name for newborn babies in 2025, with 198 more choices of Noah than last year’s most popular name, Oliver. Noah took first place in 2022 and 2023.

B.C.’s Vital Statistics Agency lists the top 10 baby names in British Columbia in 2025 as Noah, Oliver, Theodore, Liam, Olivia, Charlotte, Jack, Henry, Sophia and James.

In 2024, the most popular baby names were Oliver, Olivia, Liam, Noah, Theodore, Charlotte, Lucas, Isla, Amelia and Leo.
