Highway 3 reopens between Hope and Princeton after washout

Dec 25, 2025 | 6:30 AM

HOPE — Only minutes before the arrival of Christmas, the provincial government announced the reopening of Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton for passenger vehicles. The announcement was made late Wednesday night (Dec. 24) following weeks of work to repair the corridor following a washout earlier this month.

In a news release, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit says the highway reopened sooner than expected as a result around-the-clock work by highway contractors.

While the highway is open again, it won’t be business as usual. Motorists will be restricted to single lane alternating passage through a temporary detour and a reduced speed limit of 30 km/h. Drivers will be expected to follow all posted signs and the directions offered by traffic control personnel on the ground.
