BC Parks changes reservation parameters for 2026 camping season

Dec 22, 2025 | 7:26 AM

CHILLIWACK — It’s not clear what prompted the change, but BC Parks says it has altered the reservation window for campers ahead of the 2026 season.

BC Parks, part of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, announced on Friday that it has changed to a 3-month rolling window for reservations, meaning campers can only book three months before their intended camping date.

While BC Parks said people could start booking on Friday, Dec. 19 for an arrival date of March 19, the agency acknowledged that most of its parks aren’t open that early in the season. In reality, most parks open in April or May, meaning people will have to wait until January 2.

For example, if you’re looking to book for the Easter long weekend, you’ll need to do that on January 2 for an April 2 arrival. As another example, if you’re looking to book for the May long weekend, you can start to book your Friday, May 15 arrivals on February 15.
