1 charged in overnight shooting at Abbotsford business

ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department is continuing to investigate an overnight shooting at a local business on King Road Wednesday evening.

On December 17, at around 10:43 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 31000 block of King Road. No one was injured in the incident.

The following day, AbbyPD reports that 22-year-old Gursewak Singh has been formally charged in connection with the incident.

Police are releasing a photo of Singh to encourage additional witnesses, victims or associates to come forward with any relevant information about his activities.

“This arrest, and the work continually being undertaken by the dedicated officers within AbbyPD, reinforces that public safety is our top priority,” said Deputy Chief Daniel Culbertson. “We will not relent in our efforts to protect our community from extortion, violence, and intimidation.”

The Task Force has been working to address extortion-related activities by working with provincial and federal partners, as well as through Project Disengage.

Singh remains in custody and is awaiting his next bail hearing on Tuesday, December 23.
