UPDATE: Electricity restored to most customers in Abbotsford after 6,000+ lost power Monday AM

UPDATE 10:55 A.M. MONDAY: Power has been restored to most of the affected customers in Abbotsford. As of 10:55 a.m., there are 545 customers without power in Sumas Prairie, 109 customers just west/northwest of Abbotsford Airport, and another 40 just west of Abbotsford Airport (684 customers altogether).

UPDATE 9:40 A.M. MONDAY: BC Hydro posted on X/Twitter at 9:33 a.m. Monday morning that 4,608 customers in Abbotsford are now without power. However, that reference to 4,608 customers involves a single outage in central Abbotsford.

As of 9:39 a.m. Monday morning, there are two other outages still lingering, including 753 customers near Abbotsford Airport and another 545 customers in Sumas Prairie. Between those three outages, 5,906 customers are without power in Abbotsford.

There is also a fourth outage involving 106 customers west and northwest of Abbotsford Airport. They lost power at 9:18 a.m. Monday morning.

ABBOTSFORD — Over 1,200 customers in Abbotsford lost power early Monday due to either downed trees or a downed wire.

BC Hydro’s online dashboard reports that 545 customers in Sumas Prairie lost power at 5:32 a.m. due to a downed tree across hydro lines.

Crews have been assigned but power is currently projected to be back on by 2:25 p.m. this afternoon.

A similar power outage is also affecting Abbotsford residents closer to Abbotsford International Airport, where 753 customers saw their power go out at 4:56 a.m. this morning due to a downed wire. Crews have been assigned but there is no ETA on when power might be restored.

BC Hydro is dealing with a slew of outages this morning. As of 7 a.m., there are 30 outages impacting the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast affecting over 23,700 customers.
