Abbotsford lifts evacuation alerts for over 1,000 properties, downgrades orders for 160 more
ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford has modified numerous evacuation alerts and orders as floodwaters continue to recede in the area.
Existing evacuation alerts for 1,069 properties in Sumas Prairie West and Sumas Prairie East have been lifted as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13.
A total of 160 properties in the western portion of the evacuation order area up to Angus Campbell Road, including Huntingdon Village, as well as some north of Hwy 1, have also seen their evacuation orders downgraded to alerts.
“Rapid Damage Assessments were done on homes observed to be impacted by the floodwaters in the lifted Evacuation Order area by City of Abbotsford staff and Canada Task Force 1 to ensure that people returning home can do so safely,” said the City.
